Brief Description:
Aislynn is very feline in everything she does. She grew up with the feline DNA already ingrained into her chromosomes, so she is the actual “crazy cat lady” that many speak of. She is a bit of a skittish thing around doctors or the military, as she believes they were the ones responsible for all the pain in her past, and prefers the company of street cats, or those that take care of them. If one is able to dig past the surface, they would see that Shifter is a girl who never really had a chance to be whole, and only wants to try to fix that. It's the reason she clings to friends whenever she has a chance at them. Because she wants to be as “normal” as possible.
Class: Synthetic
Alignment: Hero
Views: Neutral
Powers:
- Can morph into any feline
- Telepathy with felines (only in feline morph)
- Has a sort of empathy towards felines
Weaknesses:
Her powers are not without their limits, unfortunately. If Aislynn is ever injured in one morph, the injuries carry over to the next, though they heal ever-so-slightly. It would take several, several morphs to completely heal battle-wounds, and by that time she would be exhausted from the energy it takes to shift. Shifting itself is a very consuming task, as it speeds up her metabolism and causes her to eat more than the normal superhuman – except for those with that kind of power.
Mutations:
All of Aislynn's morphs have the same color fur as she does hair, which is a beautiful silver color. Also, her eyes never change, leaving her with blue cat-eyes, no matter what form she is in.

Father: Doctor Benjamin Yates
Siblings: Unknown
Significant Other: N/A
Children: N/A
Brief History:
Aislynn wasn't “born” per-say, but created in a lab. Her mother was one of the lab assistants, though she was never identified to her daughter, and her father was the lead scientist in the department, Doctor Benjamin Yates – or so he claims, anyways. Once zygote-Aislynn was formed, the various scientists began to toy and play with the developing fetus and the DNA that was still growing and replicating. Bit by bit they added extra strands of feline DNA. A tiger here, an Egpytian Mau here. Her DNA was soon a cocktail of chromosomes.
Aislynn was raised in the lab, never stepping outside the barbed wire gates that surrounded the property. She was a bright child, if perhaps a bit skittish. She passed all the lessons her tutor taught, excelling especially in biology. When she was six, however, the effects of the excess DNA in her body began to shine.
Her hair, which had once been brown in color, began to grow from the root a shade of bright silver. Her pupils began to change shape, though her irises stayed the same color. Every move she made seemed much more feline and less humanistic. Finally, one night when she was just about to turn seven, her body began to change shape.
The scientists quickly realized what they had done, as this was before any such experimentation was actually approved by the government. Benjamin grabbed up the child and, without care or heed of her cries, tossed her to the wolves, so to speak.
He and his team branded the girl by tattooing her name and the number 01 after it (Aislynn01) on the inside of her lower arm. They then began to test on the child, to see what all she could do. At first the tests were simple, but as she grew older, and her powers became even more apparent, the tests just became worse and worse. Eventually, the more skittish nature began to show.
When Aislynn was sixteen, all hell broke loose. The government had ordered her father to show the projects that he had spending all his time and their money on for the past couple of years. Benjamin knew he could not show what sort of beast his daughter was so, knowing very well he could create more, gathered up her and the other experiments he had been working on.
He shot the youngest, a boy of about five with the DNA of a bear, in the back of the head. The second was clipped in the heart. It was then the children realized what was going on – and that they had to run. The three remaining experiments began to attack the scientists, though Aislynn instead took the opportunity to run. She isn't sure if any of the others survived.
She lived on the streets for a while, until she was finally able to get a job in a pet store. Apparently the owner realized that she was good with animals, cats especially, and knew that her help would be appreciated. He watched as the eighteen-year-old talked to and calmed even the worst of cats, until they were nothing more than mewling kittens in her hands.
Young and naïve, Aislynn walked through the world without truly knowing what all lurked in the shadows. Yes, she knew that there was bad people out there, people like her father, but she had always seen the best in everyone. So when her boss asked if she wanted to start “hanging out”, the little blonde agreed. What could it hurt?
It could break her spirit.
At first, everything was fine. The pair hung out like real friends, always passing little smiles and jokes when there was time. They worked during the day, taking care of the customers and animals, and explored the town at night. However, what Aislynn saw as innocent friendship, her boss saw as a bit more than that.
He ended up cornering her in the back just after closing time, which was odd because he had not been at work that day. Even from where she was standing, she could detect the familiar scent of alcohol and tried to get him to go home, but he simply refused to leave. After much questioning, which turned to yelling, he backhanded her and began his attempt to force himself upon her. Unfortunately for him, Aislynn was a bit stronger than the average female.
And that whole turning-into-feline-thing, too.
She morphed tiger and, in a rage of betrayal and anger, slew him in cold blood. By the time she realized what she had done, it was too late to even try to save him – and she took off.
She ended up getting caught a few years later and throw into Adanac for the simple crime of being born the way she was.
It was a lovely day, if Shifter didn't say so herself.
The sun was shining, not a cloud in sight, and Shift was laid out in the middle of it all. She was in her lioness form, the second-largest of all her feline morphs, and taking up every bit of space in the sun she could reach. She was stretched out in the center of the “lawn,” with her head tilted so the sun beat down just so on the side of her face.
It had been far too long, truthfully. She hadn't had a true moment's peace in weeks, since the Hive had begun appearing. The rain had pouring down like hell, blocking her precious sun, which meant she simply had no time to relax. Now that the rain was gone and the sun was out... She could just be lazy. After all, a good rest wasn't called a “cat nap” for no reason.
