Brief History:
Basically, Sarah's life sucked. Her parents were very young and very poor when she was born and they were bordering on homelessness for most of Sarah's early life. Sometimes Sarah would stay with her parents friends while her parents went out and did stuff, and then they'd come back and get her and they'd go home to a whole new house. Sarah didn't really mind at first, she just thought that was the way things went.
When she was 13, however, her parents left her at a friends house and then didn't come back for months. Eventually, the friend, a junkie of epic proportions who needed more money to fund his habit, sold her to a doctor requesting people for experiments. And they were awful experiements.
Agony, was the only way she could describe it. Constantly being electrocuted in different ways, with different drugs being forced into her system... she was always amazed that she didn't die what with the strain it put on her young body. But she survived... in theory. She wasn't alone, wherever she was, there were many, many others who were also being experimented on, it many different ways. She didn't pay much attention to them though, all she heard from them was screams of pain. And that was all they heard of her.
More than five years later, Sarah was finally released... well... released probably wasn't the right word. She was drugged at some stage and woke up in a small apartment somehwere she had never been before... the only thing she had to prove she'd been in a containment facility for her entire teenage life was the small barcode tattoo on her ankle with the number 43429 under it. It wasn't long before she discovered her abilities, which she enjoyed greatly. And then it wasn't long before she found out where she was. A city called Adanac where people dubbed 'Lessers' had been sent to keep them away from the general public.
Well... if her previous experiences hadn't been enough to make her snap, that certainly was. How dare they call her Lesser because of what she could do? Because of what they made her do? How dare they stick her back in a cage... a fancy, very large, well populated cage masquerading as a city... but a cage nonetheless. Very quickly, she put the name Sarah Broughton behind her and became Volt... sometimes 43429 if she wanted extra secrecy... and easily became a well known mercenary in the city. She didn't care who was the employer, Military or Abnormal... or what their views were. She only cared that she was getting paid... money being something she'd never really had before. It seemed a lot more reliable than people in general.
Long blonde hair tied into a tight bun ontop of her head, clothes tight and hugging her body, Volt slipped through the shadows towards a house that looked like it was owned by someone very well off... Not that she cared who owned it... all she knew was that she'd been paid 500 grand to kill whoever was in there and burn the place to the ground... easy enough... and for a discount too. Her employer was lucky she was bored.
Easily passing through the locked door, Volt checked the rooms and found only one middle aged man asleep in his bed. She tilted her head to the side and tapped her fingers lightly against her chin thoughtfully. This one would be quick, she decided, no need to give the employer more than what they paid for. Pointing her forefinger and thumb in the shape of a gun, Volt shot a thin arc of electricity right into the man's head. He spasmed for a moment before going still.
Volt sighed... not the most exciting death she'd ever caused... but it served it's purpose. As she turned to leave, she caused a surge of electricity inside the walls of the house and moments after she has exited almost the entire building was up in smoke.
A job well done... she supposed... next time she hoped for something more exciting... with more people to deal with... and maybe some conscious ones.
