She reached out, grabbing his wrist, "You're not at your full strength. For the love of God, don't you understand? You got bloody when you were completely healed; now that you're injured, it'll only be worse. Why can't you see that?"
Aislynn wasn't willing to be alone, not again. She wasn't stupid enough to believe that he would come back like he said. She had seen too much of the world; she had seen her siblings slain in cold blood before her eyes. Sure, he might come back, but... the odds were low.
"Tell some of the other Abnormals, and let them handle it. At least until your wound is healed."

"There's no one I can tell, Lynn. No one would listen to me. I'm the reason half of them are in here..." He looked deep into her eyes. "You know I can take a better hit than this. I was caught by surprise. And no bastard alive can surprise me more than once. Look, this isn't a pride thing. This isn't a him or me thing. It's his life, or the lives of countless people." He put the shotgun on a hitch on the thigh of his pants.
Then, he did what was possibly the dumbest thing he'd ever done in this relationship. He melted into the shadows on the floor, emerging outside. He started down the street, but not without turning to blow one more kiss at the house.

Aislynn couldn't believe it.
She just... couldn't believe it.
He had left her, without even realizing what he was doing. He had just... he had just gone, left her alone while he went out and fought the bastard that had clawed his chest up. And it upset her. It hurt her.
Well... well fine. If he didn't want to stay in their home and heal, then she wasn't going to hang around and wait for him to return. She had cleaned and nursed his wounds - and for what? For him to just go and try to get himself killed.
She morphed easily into an Egyptian Mau, and slipped out of the house.

He walked down the streets, in the direction where he'd seen the...thing. About a block before the exact spot, he saw it around a corner, chomping into an SUV...
It stood around 7 feet tall, like a mutant gorilla, with no eyes, but a huge mouth filled with razor sharp teeth. And it took a bite out of the roof. Bastian loaded his rifle, and cocked it.
The beast perked up, then let out an earth-shattering roar. Bastian jumped out of his hiding spot and fired the shotgun. Then reloaded and fired again. It did very little but piss the beast off. It lunged at him, quicker than a blink, and ate his gun. He melted into a shadow and appeared in a nearby alley as its roar echoed for miles. It was now do or die. Literally...

Aislynn really didn't want to go help him. Hell, she didn't even want to see him at the momet.
She was pissed at Bastian. The bastard had gone off and done something stupid, something she had warned him not to do. Like all men, he hadn't listened to common sense, or the voice of his girl. Instead, he had gone off to be all... manly.
"You idiot," Aislynn's feminine voice hissed from a nearby window; the silver cat was glaring at him from inside the abandoned apartment. Her ears flicked back, and she bared her fangs. "I told you not to do this shit, and now look what you went and did."

He jumped at the voice, then calmed. "Dammit, Lynn...I have to do this. More lives than just mine are at stake. Sure, I don't like many--if any of them. But I won't be responsible for a disaster. I REFUSE to be responsible for another disaster...One fuck-up was enough for me."
He stepped into the streets, and the monster charged, he disappeared into a shadow on the wall, and it missed him. Then, a shadow sucked the beast into the streets, up to its shoulders. It erupted from the asphalt in a shower of debris, roaring with pure rage. It leaped at Bastian, raking at him as they both fell. He sank into the street, then his fist met with its nostril before disappearing. Then...a shadowy spike errupted from the spot, sending the now bleeding beast skidding back down the street. It let out a more pained roar as Bastian retreated back into the alley.
Then...other similar roars echoed from the distance as black blood poured from the near-impaled beast.
"Oh shit....there's more than one..."

Aislynn watched the bloody fight with little interest. Not because she wasn't worried about Bastian - because she was - but because she had to make it look as though she didn't really care too much. He had gone against her wishes, despite how she had begged and pleaded for him to stay.
Let him get a bit beat up.
But when the other roars sounded, Aislynn let out a yowl, much like the kind you hear in those old Halloween movies - the kind that normally came from a black cat. Her ears pinned back, and she let out a low, dark hiss. She didn't care too much for this. Not one bit.

He stepped into the street to see the beast getting back up. He impaled it through the head with the shadow on the side of a building, and it dropped dead. Then, he sunk back into the alley, leaning against the wall and thinking.
Just then...he saw three more beasts, bigger than the first, blocking the exit to the alley. They couldn't fit in there, but they could easily tear down a building to get to him. Hopefully they weren't that smart. He phased through the wall, into the same room with Aislynn. "Sonofa..." he muttered, not seeing her. He'd heard her earlier, but he'd never seen her.

When Bastian disappeared, and then reappeared behind her, Aislynn let out a dark hiss, pinning her ears back again. Her tail whipped around her person, warning him not to get any closer than he already was. She didn't care if there were monsters outside the door; she didn't want him near her.
Not at the moment.
"I suggest you get the hell out of here," she hissed, glancing towards the window. Her blue eyes flashed dangerously, even as her form morphed from cat to cheetah. She, herself, was getting ready to hit the road running.

"Look...I know you hate me right now, but there's only one way out. There's three of them and they take up the whole damn street."
He held out his hand. "Please...just let me take you home. If not, I'll stay and get what I deserve. I'm sorry, okay? I didn't know there'd be more than one...I...I was wrong..." A tear rolled down his face. Probably the first tear he'd cried in his life.

Aislynn eyed his hand for a long time, ears still pressed against her skull. She was still skittish about being touched, though she had started to heal a bit. But she was still mad at Bastian, and the last thing she wanted was to make him angry at her. That would just be a bad string of luck altogether.
Still, the woman morphed human. "Get me back to your place," she said simply, eyeing the window now. She didn't want to deal with those monsters anymore than she really wanted to deal with Bastian. The cat inside wanted to do its own thing, but apparently that wasn't possible.
Not with those things about, anyway.

Cautiously, he held onto her, sinking into the shadows just as the beasts tore into the building. In moments, they were in the living room, doors shut tight.
He took off his shirt and jacket, looking away from her. "Lynn...I'm sorry...please...I was stupid. I thought I could help. I thought I could do something. I...I wanted to be a hero...just once...and I fucked up...Please...forgive me?"

Aislynn didn't flinch when he held onto her; she was getting better about that. But still she didn't enjoy it too much; she was still really mad at him. Mad that he had gone and done something this stupid. It made her fur - if she had any at the moment - stand up straight.
When he started talking, the girl leapt onto a chair and curled up, her body slipping back into that Egyptian Mau form again. She placed her chin on her paws, watching as he practically stripped in front of her. Aislynn had to admit: he was damned good looking. It was such a shame she was still touchy about being touched.

That....that wasn't a good sign. He'd never seen her like this. And it hurt him worse than any monster ever could. "I get it," he murmured. "Honestly I don't blame you...I don't deserve you...I don't deserve anything...I'm just destined to be hated by the world. And it's all my fault."
He walked into the bedroom, changed into a pair of shorts, and lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling as the world spun around him and tears rolled down his face. "Now I know why the jackass can never be a hero..."

The tip of her tail twitched.
"The jackass can't be the hero," she said, sniffng slightly, "because the jackass tends to rush into things and not think them through. He's too worried about proving himself than actually thinking things through and wondering if there's - oh, I dunno - a smarter way of doing things."
Her tail wrapped around her form, and the cat girl began to clean the tip of it. God knows why; it had only grown in a few minutes ago. There was no way it was dirty. Of course, it could probably just be her trying to keep herself busy.
