When the shadow lashed out, Aislynn let out a pained mewl, scurrying back.
Still, Dusk's aura dashed out, batting the shadow away. The girl stared at the aura for a moment, unsure of what to do or say. She knew she should just go and talk to him, but his comment... his comment had hurt her, deeply. He had brought up the most painful experience she had ever gone through, and thrown it in her face.
It was like he wanted her to feel dirty. It was like he wanted her to remember how she had laid on the ground and just wept as blood and dirt mingled, staining her flesh, or how badly it had hurt when she realized her viriginity had been stolen in the worst possible way - and she had nothing to give Bastian.
Not that it mattered anymore. He may have loved her, but he obviously didn't like her at the moment. Not if he was throwing insults like that around. Not if he was intent on making her remember all the shame. So she turned her back and started walking away.
Tears rolled down her face as she did so.

He was hurt. But as he walked, he felt his aura tugging him back. He looked back behind him. "I'm sorry..." he croaked. "Tonight was my lowest moment...I know it's not true...but I feel like I've given but I'm not getting anything back. Lynn...I can't live without you...I really can't. I need you...but you won't forgive me...Am I really that much of a bastard that you couldn't say those three words in the first place? I didn't mean to bring that up...I snapped. But this is my version of that night...But the day I lose you is the day my heart stops beating..."
He watched her, tears streaming down his face. If this didn't work...he was going to kill himself.

Aislynn's tail went limp, and she turned her head to look at him. There was a look in her eyes showing how hurt she really was, even as she said, "I don't see what I have to forgive you for. Not why, but what. What did you do that warrants forgiveness?" She looked over at the road, where she was heading.
There was nothing she was more than to go to her home and scold her flesh, to get rid of the ghost touches that had returned. She wanted to scrub her body until the skin was raw, just feel "normal" again.
"I'm not going to leave you," she said simply, letting her ears swivel around, testing to see if there was anything coming down the road. "I don't think I could, even if I wanted to."

He turned back and started walking towards her. "I blatantly disobeyed you. Ignored your warnings. Nearly got us both killed. And on top of that, I said a lot of things I shouldn't have. I hurt you. The only person on the planet who cares for me. And I hurt you..."
He trembled, his aura reaching out from his arm to touch her cheek. He was closer than he had been, but it still had to leave his hand, which trembled at the loss of the aura. "I never wanted to hurt you. Never meant to...and I need to hear those words. I love you...more than I have ever loved before. And I couldn't go get myself eaten. I think we both know that if I go down, my corpse would be buried under those of my enemies."

Aislynn shivered softly, watching as he approached her. She didn't want him near her, not while she was still flashing back like this. But surprisingly, his touch didn't send her any farther back; instead, he drew her forth, back into the present.
"Fine," she murmured slightly, "I forgive you." Her ears pressed against her skull, and Aislynn let out a soft whimper. "You did something wrong, and I forgive you for it."

His aura snapped back to his now cold, ghostly white hand. With the aura back in place, life returned to the literally dead hand. Dusk blinked. "That's new...." he murmured.
His eyes softened. "Thank you, Lynn. That means the world to me. I love you. And I promise not to hurt you like that again." Then another roar pierced the night. "How 'bout we go inside?" He smiled.

Aislynn keep herself in tiger form, even as she started towards the house. "Sounds good," she murmured quietly, letting her ears relax. Her tail perked up slightly, "I do not want to see another gorilla thing so long as I live."
And it was true. She had no desire to see any sort of monkey...animal...monster thing for so long as she lived. She didn't want to smell one, either. They had a disgusting scent, like death and blood. It sent shivers down her spine.
