"Makes sense," he said, looking at the brand. "It's not right what he did to you, but I gotta say I like the end result. And...if that hadn't have happened, this wouldn't be happening right now."
He sighed contentedly. "Some say everything happens for a reason. I don't know about that entirely, but I know without a doubt that if nothing else you were brought here to brighten my life."

She hesitated, looking down when he spoke. "I'm glad I'm here. I don't want to be anywhere else but here, not without you. And I don't think I would change anything that happened, but maybe I just want to know why." Aislynn nibbled on her lip.
"Daddy wasn't... He isn't a very ethical man. He always tried to test our endurance, our strength... He wanted to see what we could do. He wanted to break us down then rebuild us. It," Aislynn trailed off, looking up at him. She ran her finger over the brand. "I was seven, Dusk. It took sixteen years for me to be able to see the outside of the lab."

"Wow...seven," he repeated. "That's just wrong...I'm sorry to hear that. So here...here is pretty much the only life you've known outside..." He sat up and gave her a loving yet gentle hug. He didn't know what to say, but he wanted to make her feel better.

Aislynn relaxed into his grip, pressing against him slightly, "I don't mind this, so much. At least here we're somewhat civilized. And no one's pokin' me with needles. I really hate needles." A look of digust crossed her face, making her look much more child-like than normal.
She reached up, stroking his jaw gently, "This place is much better than the lab. I know people hate it here, but... I like it. I don't like the housing situation, mind you, but everything else is alright. We're left to ourselves, the government pays for it all..."
The only part about Adanac she hated was that no one was given a choice whether or not to live there.

"Yeah," he answered, running his hand through her hair. "Sure, there's no law. But there's no economy or legal system to possibly fail either. Once you get past the violence...we're not that bad off in here." He rubbed her back with his other hand. "Well, I'd say your home is far better now," he teased.

Unable to stop herself, Aislynn let out an odd sort of purr as he ran his hand through her hair. She was more feline than she cared to admit, and sometimes she let things slip. "I rather like it her. Especially the company I keep," Aislynn looked up at him, letting a fang glisten in the light as she smirked.

"I do too," he whispered, loving the purr. He lay back on the bed, his eyes closing. It was as if he'd just now realized how exhausted he was.

"Sleep, Dusk," she murmured, running her fingers down his face gently.
Aislynn waited until he was lying down to shift into her kitten form. Unfortunately, she wasn't in the correct position to end up on the bed with him, and ended up on the floor. A frustrated, high-pitched mewl came from the kitten, and Aislynn attempted to jump up, onto the bed. It took about three jumps, but she finally managed to scramble her way on there.
She curled up near his head, but not so she was right up on him. Gentle, quiet purrs began to fill the air.
"You need it."
